"They looked at our business. They understood the agri side of things. If it hadn't been for Bankwest we wouldn't be here."

Bankwest can see the bigger picture
The Roberts' story
"Bankwest helped us expand – they really saw the bigger picture."
After 50 years with the same bank, Andrew Roberts wasn't getting the support he needed to grow his farm. He turned to Bankwest and hasn't looked back.
"Bankwest have a different mindset to other banks as far as agriculture is concerned – and that what makes the difference to me."
When the opportunity to buy an extra 750 hectares came up, Bankwest's knowledge of the business allowed them to see the bigger picture and how the Roberts' farm could grow. From humble beginnings as a single one-bedroom cottage to 5400-hectare strong working farm with 10,000 sheep and 1000 Angus cows, Andrew Roberts continues to grow his family's legacy.
"To have someone that understands your business and is providing you with finance as well – it just makes life so much easier."

Bankwest helped us triple in size
The Zammits' story
Already one of the top poultry growers in South East Queensland, Mark and Lorraine Zammit made the big decision to expand into hydroponics - and Bankwest was with them all the way.
While growing chooks comes with the relative safety of contracts and fixed rates, hydroponic lettuce needs a different approach to financing.
"One day you're making good money and one day you're not...Bankwest understands that".
After talking with Aaron from Bankwest, the Zammits had all the advice and encouragement they needed to grow their business. Instead of paying principle on the farm, Aaron arranged an interest only loan; extra money was then accumulated to fund their expansion into hydroponics.
“We've tripled in size since we started…and I'd like to get twice the size we are now.”
